5 Things Children Today Will Never Know

1. Going to a shop to rent a movie

This is the Friday or Saturday night ritual of trudging down to the local movie rental store and picking a DVD (or video). Remember the offers we all thought were so great – 2 movies for 2 nights for the price of 1. Late fees are another thing children today will never have to deal with.

2. Cassettes, floppy disks and VHS tapes

Making a mix tape was the closest thing some children of yesteryear had to making a piece of art. It used to be ghetto blasters but today it is all iTunes and Spotify. Today is also the era of the internet where files can be transferred across the globe in an instant, while back in the day we used floppy disks. And who does not fondly remember the old VHS tape that used to get stuck in the machine half way through a movie?

3. The ninth planet

Whatever happened to Pluto anyway? And what the heck is a Dwarf planet!?

4. Having no idea who is calling

You used to have to answer a phone call to find out who was calling. Life was so difficult back then.

5. The phone book

Oh, the dear old phone book, come paper-weight, come door stop, come annoying straight-to-the-bin annual delivery.
